Spiritual harmony means creating time and space for God amid the season’s busyness. With so many obligations, it’s easy to let spiritual practices slip, but it’s precisely in these moments that we most need them.

  • Start each day with grounding: Dedicate even a few quiet moments in the morning to meditate or pray. Centering yourself in prayer, scripture, or reflection helps you face the day with a peaceful mind and open heart.
  • Reclaim sacred spaces in your day: Whether it’s your commute or a break between tasks, look for moments to reconnect spiritually. Read a Bible verse, offer gratitude, or say a quiet prayer for patience and peace.
  • Hold space for peace with family traditions: Keeping certain traditions can bring a comforting rhythm to the holidays, helping you feel spiritually centered. As you honor these traditions, reflect on their deeper meaning to bring even greater harmony to the season.

As we approach each transition, let’s explore how to navigate change with grace and purpose, rooted in God’s promises.

One of the most comforting truths about faith is the belief that God has a plan for each of us. When change disrupts our routines, it’s reassuring to remember that we are not in this alone. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

As men, breast cancer often feels like a distant concern, something we associate with women. But the reality is that men can and do get breast cancer. Though rare, around 1 in 833 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime. For us, awareness is just as critical. Recognizing the signs—like a lump or changes in the chest area—can lead to early detection and better outcomes. We must break the stigma, talk openly about our health, and support one another. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, and neither should our awareness.

Unfortunately, many men delay seeking medical advice due to embarrassment or lack of information. This delay can lead to more advanced diagnoses and fewer treatment options. It’s essential to be proactive and take control of our health—self-exams, regular checkups, and open conversations with healthcare providers could save lives. Men, it’s time we step up and prioritize our well-being.

As a senior, facing breast cancer alongside your wife can feel overwhelming, but it’s also an opportunity to show the love and commitment that has carried you through so many years together. First and foremost, listen to her. Breast cancer impacts not only the body but also the mind and spirit. Be present and patient as she processes everything, and let her know that you’re there for every step. Simple gestures like holding her hand during treatments or helping with daily routines speak volumes of your care.

It’s also important to take care of yourself. Supporting your wife through treatment can be physically and emotionally draining, and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Surround yourself with a support network—friends, family, or counseling services—to ensure you stay strong for her.

As a breast cancer survivor, I want to remind every woman—and man—that we must be our best advocates for our health. My journey started with a self-exam when I discovered a lump, a decision that changed my life. Early detection saves lives, and we must be vigilant in caring for ourselves.

👉 Do your self-exams regularly. Know your body, and don't hesitate to consult your doctor if something feels off. Men, this is for you, too. Breast cancer does not discriminate by gender.

Family is the unsung hero, the co-survivor in this battle. Together, we face these challenges with strength and hope, remembering those we've lost and standing by those who continue to fight.

Let's continue to raise awareness, offer support, and take action. 💗
